Coraid man buys things back

SouthSuite, the software-only storage firm founded by Coraid founder and CTO Brantley Coile when Coraid inc closed down, has re-acquired the Coraid domain and trademark.

Coraid-branded storage appliances will re-enter the market as a SW brand belonging to SouthSuite, and providing ATA-over-Ethernet accessed shared storage. SouthSuite obtained the intellectual property for its original product line (formerly known as CorOS and EtherDrive SR, SRX, and VSX) last year. Coile developed and released SR704, now rebranded as Coraid SR, as a software upgrade for most Classic Coraid hardware that is compatible with net-new commodity hardware as well. SR improvements include a streamlined command set and 4K advanced format drive support, a feature previously not available to Coraid users. Features in active development are expansion chassis support and a customer-driven storage array management portal. ®
