Google Hangouts hangs up

Anyone planning on conducting a Google Hangouts meeting today would be well-advised to make a backup plan.

Monitoring site DownDetector and Reg readers tell us there are difficulties accessing the video chat service today.

Thus far, Google is reporting nothing amiss, with its Apps status dashboard showing Hangouts running as normal.

The service has been wobbly for the past hour or so, we're told, with Google Drive also reportedly affected. There are a few signs of recovery as we hit publish – let us know how it's going for you. ®
