IBM's SoftLayer cloud now offers Ubuntu VMs.
Big Blue's cloudy bit barns have gained Ubuntu Certified Public Cloud Partner status, so are permitted to offer cloudy concoctions based on Canonical's spawn. Punters can do so in the knowledge that OS updates will flow in a timely fashion.
Importantly, Ubuntu runs on Power systems, which IBM belatedly fired up in May 2016. Power Systems are a niche concern these days. Making Ubuntu available extends their appeal a little. ®
