Violin aids hearing firm

Germany's biggest hearing aid company has bought a Violin 7300 flash array.

It replaces a NetApp array and support's Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system, mail archive, testing systems and thousands of virtual machines across Europe. Kind Hearing has more than 500 retail stores in Germany and 100 in the rest of Europe. In-store administrative tasks use the corporate IT infrastructure to run virtual machines for tasks like stock checking and accounting. As Kind's business, and IT burden, grew the NetApp disk-based filer wasn't up to the job in latency and IOPS terms, and needed replacing. VMs that took as long as five minutes to start now start in five seconds. Violin's data reduction cut 45TB of data down to 7TB. Nice win for Violin. ®
