Seagate releases helium

By Chris Mellor, 28 Apr 2016

Volume ship has started for Seagate's top helium-filled drive.

Seagate is shipping its 10TB Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD in volume, having finally caught up with WDC’s HGST brand capacity-wise. It says it has the industry’s lowest power and weight numbers for 10TB drives. The drive is shipping to Ciara and Supermicro. Huawei and Alibaba are also customers. Seagate will roll the helium-filled drive tech out across its nearline drive products, implying capacity increases are on the way. ®
