$elfies for MasterCard

Mastercard pay-by-selfie tech is coming to Britain, the US, and Canada.

The Identity Check scheme began as a pilot in The Netherlands and the US with some 500 users who could take photos of themselves instead of entering PINs. MPU

Users hold the phone at eye-level and blink once when instructed, preventing the use of static photos to access accounts.

It comes as retailers in the US move to lock down retail shopping with EMV and Verified by Visa replacing woefully inadequate magnetic stripe cards. ®
