Cybersec experts named

The members of the US government's new cybersecurity commission have been named by the White House.

Among the 12 "leading thinkers from business, technology, and academia" appointed by President Obama are former IBM CEO Sam Palmisano, Microsoft VP Peter Lee, Chief Security Officer of Uber Joe Sullivan, a number of former security services heads, and several academics.

The commission will make recommendations for how to strengthen computer security in the public and private sector. Those recommendations are expected to "protect privacy, ensure public safety and economic and national security, and empower Americans to take better control of their digital security."

The commission will hold its first meeting this Friday at the US Department of Commerce in Washington DC. ®
