Masked men 'steal' £250k of smartphones from Exertis

170 iPhone 6s and 380 Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo mobes out the windows

The boys in blue are investigating a break-in at Exertis’ Altham warehouse earlier this week when three masked robbers made off with almost £250,000 worth of smartphones.

According to Lancashire Police, 170 iPhone 6s mobes and 380 Galaxy S5 Neo devices were stolen by the trio between midnight and 2.30 am on 1 February.

Police believe they unbolted security bars from the window and dismantled the beading and glass to gain entry to the warehouse. They surveyed the site before grabbing the box fresh phones and disappearing into the night.

DS Melissa Kelly from East Lancashire CID, said:

“We are conducting inquiries in the area and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information that could assist with our ongoing investigation.”

She said two males were “disturbed” close to the premises on the previous night to the theft - it is understood security guards chased the two men after spying them on CCTV.

“We believe this could be linked to the burglary. If anyone witnessed any suspicious activity nearby then please get in touch,” said Kelly.

Exertis, owned by Irish listed firm DCC, refused to comment. ®
