Apple will reveal new iPhone on Sept 9 – this is what it may look like

Hint: It looks like a bleedin' iPhone

Pics Apple has sent out invites for a press conference next week where it will unveil new iPhones – quite possibly the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

The Cupertino giant has issued passes to its docile and compliant friends in the media for a mystery event on September 9 in San Francisco. El Reg's invite was lost in the post, possibly caused by this, this, or maybe this.

We know it will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium right in the Tenderloin, the crap-coated Bermuda Triangle of the city.

The invite mentions the Siri personal assistant: it reads, "Hey Siri, give us a hint." Apple has promised an improved version of the voice-controlled software in iOS 9. That, combined with the normal schedule for iPhone updates, suggests the event will almost certainly involve the introduction of new iPhones and the general release of iOS 9.

That new handset will have a much better camera than the iPhone 6, according to the 9to5Mac blog. We're told to expect a 12-megapixel camera, support for 4K video recording, and the addition of a flash for the front-facing camera.

It will also look virtually identical to previous iMobes.

In other developments, it appears Microsoft is possibly working on new Lumia handsets codenamed 'Cityman' and 'Talkman'. Each of the gizmos will run Windows 10 Mobile. Although Microsoft has yet to give any word on when, or even if, these two phones will go on sale, it's believed they will be unveiled in October. ®
