Mozilla promises browser just for developers
Something called #FX10 is coming next week
The Mozilla Foundation has promised that next week it will give developers a browser that meets their needs and their needs only, instead of catering to the whims and petty proclivities of users.
“When building for the Web, developers tend to use a myriad of different tools which often don’t work well together,” the foundation says. “This means you end up switching between different tools, platforms and browsers which can slow you down and make you less productive.”
Enter Mozilla, with an intention “to unleash our developer tools team on the entire browser to see how we could make your lives easier.”
“We’ve redesigned the browser by looking at it through a completely new filter to put developers’ interests first,” the Foundation gushes.
The Foundation's being cagey about just what this means , offering little detail other than a hashtag - #FX10 – and news that the browser will include the WebIDE hack that “helps you create, edit, and test a new Web application right from your browser.”
WebIDE, one of the developer-centric bits Mozilla will bake into a new browser
The Firefox Tools Adapter will also be baked into the new browser in some way.
All will be revealed on November 10th. ®
