Han Solo headed for lengthy stay in bacta tank after Bay Door Control cockup

Pulling ears off gundark unrealistic for now

Someone at Pinewood Studios' equivalent of Bay Door Control is probably in a good deal of trouble after septuagenarian Hollywood heart-throb Harrison Ford had his ankle broken "by a garage door" on the set of the new Star Wars movie.

Ford, 71, is to reprise his role as interstellar smuggler scamp turned Rebel general Han Solo. Joining him will be fellow Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Carrie Fisher, and a younger generation of acteurs will be represented by Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones fan favourite Gwendoline Christie. The screen epic, seventh in the series and for once numbered as such, is reportedly to be titled "The Ancient Fear" - as opposed to "Retirement of the Jedi" or similar.

However with the now somewhat elderly Ford suffering from a broken ankle, a potentially costly delay to shooting has to be on the cards. Doubtless director JJ Abrams would like to be able to plonk him into a trusty bacta tank for a comparatively swift repair.

Meanwhile, the internets have been quick to produce suitable re-enactments of the possible scene at Pinewood:

Doubtless if enough of you should call for it, our Special Projects Bureau Playmauteur Lester Haines might put together a miniature diorama of his own in such moments as he has spare from assembling the Register's own spacecraft. ®
