Apple iOS 8 'will put end' to crap map app rap flap misery

Apple is set to fix its crap map app this year with an update featuring public transport information.

According to a report on 9to5Mac, the fruity firm is keen to leave the Maps debacle behind and chart a new direction.

Cupertino's Maps app became infamous after it steered drivers onto one of the runways of Fairbanks Airport in Alaska.

There will be no more of this carrying-on when iOS 8 is released.

Apple has already bought a number of firms which specialise in public transport maps.

The new app is likely to be released at the same time as iOS 8.

According to the Apple blog, the new Maps app will be "be injected with new points of interests and new labels to make places such as airports, parks, train stations, bus stops, highways, and freeways easier to find".

Users in big cities like New York and Los Angeles will be the first to take advantage of the new features. Other cities are likely to get public transport information in the months after the initial rollout.
