Police constable 1337 stunned by Lego lookalike

The Leet police dismisseth us

It's not every day that the Venn diagram covering law enforcement, tiny figurines and internet jargon crosses over, but today is such a day.

Reports have it that a police constable whose official number is 1337 has been gobsmacked to find that Lego have brought out a tiny plastic plod who not only has the same number - he is also as near to being a dead ringer for the real copper as any miniature figurine can realistically be expected to be.

We learn of the stunning enforcement doppelganger situation from the trenchant journalism of the Express, which discloses the gobsmackedness of PC Rob Thomas - of the Hampshire force, number 1337 - on finding that the latest Lego copper sports the same number as him.

"What are the chances?" ask our dead-tree colleagues.

Pretty much one in one, we'd say, given a police force using simple four-figure numbers and with 1337 or more constables in it. Though admittedly in this case there is also a certain similarity of moustaches.

Curiously, nobody involved with the Express story seems to have realised the connotations generally associated with the numeral 1337 when used as a word, which we'd guess may lie behind Lego's choice of number for their plastic plod*. ®

Bootnote

*It seems PC Thomas was alerted to the existence of his yellow numbersake by a colleague who collects Lego figures. This colleague, perhaps coincidentally, is a PCSO (Police Community Support Officer).
