Brave copper single-handedly chases 'suspicious' Moon

A Worcestershire copper is apparently taking some serious stick from his fellow officers after heading off into the Clent Hills to investigate a "suspicious bright light" which turned out to be nothing more sinister than the Moon.

According to Police Magazine, the "single-crewed" officer radioed his sergeant to alert him of the possible need for back-up before yomping for 20 minutes in search of distant illumination.

A second call to base confirmed the "diligent" plod had taken a giant leap for the Worcestershire force in discovering Earth's satellite.

In mitigation, the Telegraph notes the Clent Hills are an outdoor sex hotspot, and the officer may have mistaken the Moon for car headlights.

Naturally, this has not saved him from his colleagues' ridicule. A police source confirmed: "The officer was a little reluctant to come back on duty the next day.

"He knew he was going to get a ribbing and he's had pictures of werewolves put on his locker by some of the more unforgiving officers. It will take a long time for him to live this one down." ®
