'Hands free' pissing contest games installed in boozer

Drunks can now piss away hours playing games while at the urinals after the gents at The Exhibit Bar in south London was kitted out with a hands-free gaming cistern system.

Confident men can test out their skills on one of three games including the quiz game Clever Dick by adjusting their stream to the left or right section of the pan, while competitive players can post their story onto an online leader board or via Twitter.

“It’s taken three years of research and development to get to this point,” says Mark Melford, director at the games' creator, Captive Media. “The reaction to the units so far has been incredible – it’s just so much fun.”

Bar owners that kit out their bogs with the system can use the screens to promo special offers or events to "engage" with the full-bladdered for one minute or longer – depending on the choice of tipple.

In fact Captive Media suggests that "evidence" based on a four-month pilot at a watering hole in Cambridge as that the gaming experience "boosted footfall, created a local 'buzz' and had a significant impact on sales" of products marketed.

“It’s a tough time for bars and pubs currently. This product offers customers something fun, and unlike anything they’ve seen before. Those are two good reasons to go out for a drink at a time when so many are opting to stay in," said the firm.

This may be true of the Brits, but the Japanese have got there already with a Sega system, and so far it has failed to single-handedly rescue the economy there. Fingers or something crossed for the prospects closer to home. ®
