HTC prepares quad-core smartphone for 2012

Beastly blower bad for battery?

HTC is preparing an onslaught in the mobile marketplace by launching the first quad-core handset in 2012.

The Taiwanese manufacturer is reportedly preparing to release the HTC Edge next year, a smartphone with a 1.5GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip, PocketNow reports.

HTC Edge

According to "reliable sources", the HTC Edge will land with a 4.7in display and 1GB of Ram. It is expected to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich too, and HTC Sense 4.0.

It'll be interesting to see the effect a quad-core processor has on battery life, but nevertheless, it could certainly be one brawny blower.

The Edge will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress at the end of February 2012, apparently. We eagerly await its successor, the Bono. Or is that the iPhone 5? ®
