TSG gets its lips round Rocket

Acquisitive reseller Technology Services Group (TSG) has snapped up fellow Geordie Microsoft SharePoint consultancy Rocket Solutions.

This is the second small-scale deal that TSG has struck this year following the takeover in April of specialist CRM dealer Concentrix, and represents its twenty-fifth takeover to date.

SharePoint has been a near recession-proof technology, as business customers invest to build websites and then manage the content. Sales broke the $1bn barrier in 2008 and the software was updated again last year.

"We have seen considerable growth in the demand for SharePoint and BI projects from our customer base over the last two years," said TSG chief executive David Stonehouse in a statement.

TSG insisted that all Rocket's staff will remain with the business and customer contacts remain unchanged.

Rocket posted abbreviated accounts for the year to 31 January 2011, while fiscal 2010 numbers for TSG showed sales just shy of £30m and pre-tax losses of £3.45m. ®
