Hamburg vice girls to be serviced by cable car

Aerial trams proposed for horny gardeners, theatregoers

Hamburg city officials are mulling a proposal to build a cable car between the city's Wilhelmsburg district and the St Pauli "entertainment district", thereby handily linking the site of the International Garden Show (IGS) with the Reeperbahn's brothels.

The high-flying 100m transport system will whisk green-fingered punters the 3.2 miles (5.2km) between termini in 18 minutes at heights of up to 393 feet (120m). The ride promises spectacular views of the river Elbe and the city's docks.

As an added bonus, horny horticulturalists with a penchant for musical theatre can step off at an intermediate station and catch The Lion King.

The ambitious plan is a joint effort by the Doppelmayr cable car company and musical production outfit Stage Entertainment. If given the, ahem, green light, it'll be ready for 2013 to coincide with IGS's "In 80 Gardens around the World", which runs from April to October. ®

Those of you who are about to protest that the cable car is not designed specifically to service the Reeperbahn's bawdy houses can blame Spiegel Online.
