Online channel sales dodge the dip in 2010

HP, Lenovo and Dell still growing

Online channel sales continued to grow in 2010 pushed by HP, Lenovo and Sony, but Dell is growing fast too.

Sales of notebooks, support products and desktops still dominate sales but other fast-growing categories include white goods and smaller form factor products such as cable locks.

The numbers come from Icecat.biz which provides over one million downloadable information sheets to 12,700 resellers flogging 5,228 brands. They are a combination of direct end-user downloads of data sheets and catalogue popularity, where larger online shops download the sheets once and offer them to customers.

Dell is the one of the fastest-growing online computer brands, but HP takes the top spot. Lenovo, Sony and Acer still dominate the top of the charts.

Icecat also found strong growth among smaller form factor products such as security cables, games and netbooks. It said the growth of iPad sales was not harming the market for netbooks, which have their own separate use compared to tablet computers.®
