Privacy watchdog needs someone to explain technology

The Information Commissioner's Office needs you to help it deal with the privacy implications of new technology.
The ICO admitted in August that it needed to "develop our understanding of the impact of technology on privacy and ensure that this informs our policy making".
The watchdog is appointing a Technology Reference Panel of industry experts to spot upcoming privacy threats in new technology and act "as a sounding board for the development of ICO policies".
A "technology advisor" will work alongside the panel.
David Smith, deputy commissioner and director of data protection at the ICO, said: “Online technology is moving at a faster pace than ever before so the new Principal Policy Adviser for Technology will ensure the ICO stays one step ahead of the game."

The ICO has been criticised for taking an overly soft approach to certain technology issues such as Google's Street View data snoop. The watchdog initially cleared the ad giant, but has now reopened its investigation. ®
