Apple lists iPhone UK hits of 2009

Not expecting much of December then

Apple has provided lists of the UK's top applications, music, films and TV shows though 2009, though with no numbers as such.

Macworld summarises the lists, with the top album from Kings of Leon followed by Lily Allen, but we'll have to wait until the end of the year to see how that compares to other sales channels.

Nor can we draw much from the top iPhone applications, which are listed by "biggest grossing" rather than sales. That makes the most expensive applications top of the list: CoPilot (£26.99) and TomTom (£59.99), with The Sims 3 (£3.99) coming in third followed by National Rail Enquiries (£4.99) and TomTom again (Europe this time, at £79.99).

But we can say the UK's most popular film on the smallest screen was Quantum of Solace, followed by Yes Man and Watchmen - we're really hoping those were for viewing on an Apple TV, or at least a TV-connected computer, as an iPhone screen isn't going to do Watchmen any justice at all.

TV shows might work better: Eastbound and Down tops the list, with Red Riding and Life coming next, though again we're hoping that all those lovely birds and shiny fish didn't get shrunk down onto too many iPods.

More detailed breakdowns are available from within iTunes, but without actual figures it's hard to draw much from Apple's reports other than the fact that Cupertino isn't expecting any great upset in sales over the next three weeks. ®
