DJ Hero sets up, scratches down in Blighty
May not save your life
Strumming is out and spinning is in, at least according to videogame developer FreeStyleGames, which has today launched DJ Hero as a rival to Guitar Hero.
DJ Hero makes spinning tunes easy, but won't turn you into John Peel
DJ Hero invites would-be slipmat superstars to mix, spin and scratch tunes on a plastic turntable.
Beats travel around an on-screen turntable and you have to press the corresponding coloured “stream” button on the turntable at the right time in order to keep the mix going.
More advanced DJs can take advantage of the deck’s effects dial, crossfader and “score boosting” Euphoria button - according to a description of the game.
DJ Hero Renegade Edition
DJ Hero is compatible with the Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Aside from the basic £80 ($132/€82) DJ Hero offering, which includes the plastic deck, a pricier “Renegade Edition” of the game is also available that bundles a "premium" turntable, case, stand and tunes from the likes of rappers Jay-Z and Eminem. ®
