'Norfolk Broads Idiot' nailed on YouTube

Net closes on dinghy stunt muppet

The powers that be are poised to deliver a financial keelhauling to the 'Norfolk Broads Idiot' who appeared on YouTube apparently attempting to secure a Darwin Award:

The video was captured on 23 June near Oulton Broad, Suffolk, the Telegraph reports. The Broads Authority was suitably unimpressed with the escapade, with its senior navigation officer Rebecca Callister admitting she felt "absolute shock and horror" when she first saw the vid.

She said: "This man was being incredibly stupid and reckless. He was speeding around and deliberately cutting up another vessel which is highly dangerous. The boat went out of control because he did not have a kill cord attached to his body to stop the engine in the event of him being thrown in the water.

"It meant that the dinghy was spinning around in circles. He could easily have been chopped up and he's incredibly lucky that he was not hurt."

The Broads Authority has traced the holidaymaker who shot the footage, who's agreed to give evidence in any prosecution. It's also traced the holiday cruiser which the dinghy was circling - believed to be the vessel from which the man launched his kamikaze inflatable - and the hire company is prepared to name the people on board.

When he does finally get his collar felt, the Norfolk Broads Idiot faces fines of "up to £1,000 for breaking the 5mph speed limit and another £1,000 for not exercising proper care and caution". ®
