LibDems want gov action on killer lorries of death

Sock'n'scandal wearers focus on real issues

The Liberal Democrats, Britain's other opposition, is calling for urgent government action on the threat of killer lorries of death, which are apparently routinely smashing into railway bridges and menacing primary schools thanks to dodgy satnav.

The LibDems reckons satnav devices "frequently direct large vehicles down narrow roads where they can become stuck or hit low bridges".

Norman Baker, LibDem transport man, said: "The rise in the use of Sat Nav devices has led to a doubling of the number of large vehicles hitting rail bridges. This has the potential to be extremely dangerous.

"The Government must act to make Sat Nav devices safer for large vehicles."

Baker also released a list of 20 top satnav terror spots. It details such outrages as the continuous machine-driven direction of HGVs down Reading East's Elgar Road, despite its being closed to traffic since 1984.

Meanwhile, Colchester's Dutch Quarter is still besieged by monster trucks, despite being closed to North-South traffic.

And in Ludlow and Bridgnorth, lorries are being sent to an entirely fictitious crossing over the River Severn.
