Queen commands Samsung to supply 100 TVs

Flat panels ordered for Buck House

The Queen has ordered one hundred Samsung flat-panel TVs to be installed in Buckingham Palace, the South Korean giant announced yesterday. But it's not able to claim its products come 'by appointment' to the monarch of all she surveys - for that, its screens have to be under the royal gaze for the next five years.

According to a report by South Korean paper The Chosun Ilbo, Samsung yesterday revealed it received the royal command in October, having sent over some brochures in June.

The Queen has apparently selected both LCD and plasma panels for the royal residence, which has 775 rooms in total.

According to the report, Samsung said the Sovereign will have to pay hard cash for the screens, having previously having been able to rely on tellies that have been loaned or donated. ®
