Olympic Games committee shortlists IT firms

Leading IT firms have been shortlisted to run the London Organising Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics Game's (Locog) back office system.

The four shortlisted companies are Accenture, BT Global Services, IBM and Logica CMG. Locog is looking for an information system supplier to provide a single repository of recorded information relating to the preparation, delivery and legacy of the London Games.

The system will include a finance application, facilities information, spectator services, ticket allocation data, workforce and volunteers scheduling. It will also include shared reference databases for the London 2012 Organising Committee and the Olympic Delivery Authority.

Locog said it had been inundated with "high quality" responses to a pre-qualification questionnaire issued earlier this month. The responses were reviewed on 21 September and the shortlist selected. A preferred supplier will be selected in October and a formal appointment made in November.
