Wanadoo ties distie knot with Evesham

Aaaahhh!

Anyone buying a new PC from Evesham Technology will now find that it carries pre-installed Net access software from Wanadoo UK after the two firms inked an exclusive PC pre-load and distribution agreement.

The deal means that Wanadoo broadband and dial-up access software will be pre-loaded on the 100,000 or so PC's and lap-tops shipped by Evesham in the UK each year.

Punters visiting Evesham's 17 stores in the UK can also pick up software and Wanadoo's "Broadband-in-a-box" gear as well.

Wanadoo (formerly known as Freeserve) has recently struck distribution deals with Maplin Electronics and Futuremedia, while Wanadoo gear is also being flogged by Index, Orange, Lloyds Pharmacy Group and Texaco.

In February, Wanadoo UK lost its exclusive deal with the Dixons Group to punt its service in its chain of stores. Now AOL UK's dial-up software is available in PC World, Dixons and Currys stores and pre-loaded onto PCs and laptops, replacing the spot once reserved for Freeserve.

Wanadoo's broadband products are still available in Dixons, but it will be replaced by AOL UK from February next year. ®
