PlusNet offers 'full-fat' broadband

PlusNet has introduced a "full-fat" 512k broadband access service for just £14.99 month in a further sign that competition is revving up in the entry-level market.

The Sheffield-based ISP reckons that the launch of its 'Broadband Home Lite' service is set to "create a huge stir in the market, setting the pace for the next generation of home Internet access products".

Like many entry-level broadband packages, the service comes with a 1 Gig a month usage cap but punters can buy extra if they want.

Said marketing director Marco Potesta: "PlusNet has consistently and aggressively sought to drive down the price of UK broadband by offering great value products for the consumer.

"To now be in a position to offer a market-leading, classic 512k broadband product, priced at only £14.99 a month, is an extremely exciting prospect for us. We believe this represents the best deal around."

And following on from BT's recent move to cut the cost of migrating punters between ISPs and different services, PlusNet has announced a "limited introductory" offer to shunt people to its service for nowt.

"For those unhappy with their current overpriced provider, we're offering a completely free and easy way to move to PlusNet. All we need to know is your CBUK code number and we have full details of how to get this at our website," said Potesta.

In recent weeks there have been a rash of offers breaking the all-important £20 a month barrier, including deals from Wandoo UK, Pipex and BT. ®
