Vodafone tops games content for Live! with Lara Croft exclusive
Mobile Tomb Raider
Vodafone seems to be able to buy content for its Live! online media phone service with impunity. This week it has landed a deal with Eidos, the UK's biggest games company for exclusive phone use of Lara Croft, Tomb Raider, by far its most famous daughter and money spinner.
The deal will run across 22 countries for mobile entertainment content. Since Lara made her debut in 1996, the Tomb Raider series has sold more than 30 million units worldwide.
Vodafone plans to launch three Tomb Raider games, as well as offering ringtones, screensavers and wallpapers for phones from the games. In the Summer Vodafone made deals with Sony and Disney and is rumored to be in talks with Vivendi for more content, despite clashing with the French giant over the ownership of Cegetel.
