Four more exchanges to get ADSL

Crack open the Dandelion & Burdock

A further four exchanges are to be converted to ADSL, BT Wholesale has confirmed.

Leek in Staffordshire, Bishops Waltham in Hampshire and Kesgrave in Suffolk have now secured enough validated orders to see their exchanges upgraded to broadband.

This should be completed by the end of the year, or the beginning of 2003.

A further exchange, Harrowden, has also joined a small, but illustrious group of exchanges that has generated enough demand for BT to invest in broadband in their areas.

A further three exchanges - Bradford-on-Avon, Buckley and Shaw - are also within a whisker of seeing their exchanges converted to ADSL.

Last month BT confirmed seven areas had passed through all the necessary hoops to have their local exchanges converted to broadband.

BT hailed the news as "terrific", claiming that by identifying pockets of demand it can now invest in broadband with certainty. ®
