Web hosting biz Servint hit by network-toppling DDoS attack

Outage domino effect as network's customers' customers also hit

Web hosting provider Servint has been hit by a network outage, reportedly due to a DDoS attack.

In a tweet, the company said: "We are aware of an issue affecting a portion of our network. We are attempting to diagnose it and will update as we get information."

Email provider SMTP2GO was one of the company's customers to be hit by the outage, which in turn left its customers without services.

SMTP2GO said: "One of our internet providers (Servint) is continuing to have problems, apparently related to a DDoS attack. We are continuing to monitor the situation and respond as best as possible."

This is the second time in as many days that Servint's network has been down.

Customers took to Twitter to complain.

The Register has contacted Servint for further comment. ®
