Groin-melting Fujitsu LifeBook batteries recalled in conflag alert

Rip out these batts now – unless you like staring down at the charred remains of your lap

Fujitsu is recalling a bunch of laptop batteries due to overheating concerns.

The batteries in question are dated between May 2011 and July 2012, and were offered as spare standalone batteries. In some cases, Fujitsu says, the batteries may also have been installed post-sale as replacements.

The Panasonic-made batteries were sold with Fujitsu LifeBook E752, P772, P702, S792, SH772, and SH792 models shipped between May 2012 and July 2012.

The battery part number is CP556150-01 or CP556150-02, carrying serial numbers between Z120102 and Z120512.

A recall notice from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is here, and Fujitsu's notice is here.
