Facebook bug gobbles pics in posts, web publishers scream

Developers grumpy as clickbait shorn of pics and their pulling power

Facebook users are complaining that The Social NetworkTM is experiencing a problem that stops people posting pictures.

A developer calling themselves “La Carmina” has filed a bug report stating that “every post I publish on my site does NOT show a featured image when I try to share the link in Facebook”, and there are numerous similar complaints in the thread we've linked to above.

Facebooker Gary Fitzpatrick has acknowledged the bug, and says Facebook is working on a fix.

Indeed, the fix is in – in a good way – and that the bug has been resolved. Developers found their own way around the mess by inserting a couple of lines of code that describe an image's height and width.

Website devs and admins were mad because those affected appear to have included several folks who rely on Facebook to propagate their content. The absence of images made that harder, hence the stink.

Facebook's not having much luck with images in the last 24 hours, accidentally using an explicit and NSFW image in a CAPTCHA, and now failing to post photos. ®
