Facebook to let stalkers unearth buried posts with mobe search

Prepare to HAUNT your pal's back catalogue

Facebook is testing a search feature on its mobile application that will allow users to immerse themselves in forgotten old posts on the free content ad network.

At present, the Menlo Park, California-based company is only experimenting with the tool on a small group of people who use Facebook, according to a Bloomberg report.

Facebook is apparently touting it as "an improvement to search on mobile."

Mobile is a big deal for the Mark Zuckerberg-run firm, with his engineers now building separate Facebook apps aimed squarely at the smartphone and fondleslab market, so it's hardly surprising that it is working so hard on search.

It's a strategy to ultimately compete with Google and it shows Zuck's desire to squirt ever more ad goo over Facebook's mobile apps. The keyword here obviously being "search".

As noted by Bloomberg, Facebook is still playing around with its Graph Search product. A creepy tech developed to address what had been a gaping hole in Facebook's mobile revenue.

But there have been fears expressed about perverts using Graph Search to prey on teenagers on the network.

In February 2013, Facebook was forced to say that controls would be in place to protect young people. But the system, as The Register reported at the time, is flawed, because it relies on kids and adults to be honest about their age when signing up to Facebook - which is not heavily policed by the company. ®
