POW! Apple smites Macbook Air EFI firmware update borkage

Fruity firm provides digital balm for furious fanbois

Apple has released an urgent fix for a problem that temporarily bricked a number of fanbois' Macbooks.

Apple customers wailed last week after an update hobbled some users' machines.

People using Macbook Airs from mid 2011 claimed the update wrought havoc on their pride and joy, turning that expensive silver machine into a sleepy, hot, energy-sucking vampire.

But never fear, fanbois and fangurlz, your favourite company is here to help.

The issue was caused by version 2.9 of an EFI firmware update, which was supposed to fix a problem that causes the computer to take an eternity to wake from sleep. Once alive, it then runs the fans at full speed.

Now Cupertino has rolled out a new version of this update, which it claims will salve fanbois' pain and get 'puters a-running once more.
