VMware hiring exec to launch Australian hybrid cloud

Don't bank on a local bit barn: the job ad talks a lot about 'partner(s)'

VMware's Australian outpost is hiring a Strategic Program Manager to launch its vCloud Hybrid Cloud Service (vCHS).

The job ad for the role says the company wants a “Program Manager to launch strategic GTM partner initiatives for vCloud Hybrid Services.”

“This position will plan and manage the vCHS partnership lifecycle with strategic partners and VMware . The vCHS partnership lifecycle spans from agreement negotiations between companies through the general availability of the new vCHS service in a specified data center location.”

Whoever scores the gig will be asked to “Develop and manage the launch plan” and manage “partner(s)”, which seems to suggest that VMware will not build an Australian bit barn but work with folks that already have them humming along.

It's no surprise that VMware is hiring someone to kickstart vCHS in Australia, as the company has previously mentioned Telstra as the kind of company it wants to work with. Local VMware folk have also hinted to Vulture South that talks are under way with prospective local partners. The company has also signalled global ambitions for the service, as shown by Vulture West's discovery last week that it is hiring vCHS workers in Japan and the recent introduction of the service in Europe. ®
