Foxconn staffer lets slip iPhone 5 ship date
Hiring thousands of workers to assemble handsets
iPhone 5 rumours picked up a couple of notches today after a Foxconn recruiter let slip that the manufacturer is hiring staff for the next-gen Apple phone's production.
A human resources worker from Foxconn's Taiyuan, Shanxi Province plant said the company is hiring 18,000 workers for the fifth-generation iPhone, the World Business Satellite channel on TV Tokyo reports by way of local fansite Macotakara.
The recruiter may not have the full gen on iPhone production at the company, but it didn't stop him allegedly revealing Apple's plans for a launch this June.
The news correlates to analysts' iPhone 5 predictions made in February.
Of course, as with the predictable flurry of next-gen iThingy rumours, we'll take this one with a pinch of salt.
Other recent whispers suggest the iPhone 5 will feature a 4.6in display. We'll let you know more on what Cupertino may or may not have up its sleeve as and when. ®
