UK cops cuff suspect after RnBXclusive takedown
Anti-crime-gang squad seizes music site, starts asking questions
Blighty's Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) has arrested an individual in connection with the closure of UK music exchange site rnbxclusive.com, an agency spokesperson told The Reg.
In a statement, SOCA cops said they had taken action against the website as part of a criminal investigation and stated that the person was cuffed on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud. The site was hauled offline last night.
The crime-gang-busting plod said:
Much of the music offered for download by the rnbxclusive.com website was illegally obtained from artists, leading the industry to attribute losses of approximately £15m per year to the site’s activity.
Rumours that the rnbxclusive.com takedown was a hacker's prank were spread by the site's Facebook fans, but are untrue. Rnbxclusive.com has over a quarter of a million fans on the social network. ®
